Sentara job postings fall in Virginia

Sentara posted eighty six new jobs in Virginia in the last seven days, a fall of fifty four percent from the one hundred and eighty eight posted in the previous week. The total number of new jobs posted across Virginia fell by thirty nine percent to five thousand and eighty nine from eight thousand three hundred and eighty eight.

The reasons for this change are not certain. Sentara's postings may have fallen because of a shift in hiring needs or a change in how they report job openings. It is also possible that the base for comparison was small, making the change appear larger than it is.

Domino's saw a surge in postings, adding two hundred and fifty nine percent more jobs, while Sodexo and Outback Steakhouse posted jobs where they had none before. In contrast, Inova postings fell by seventy five percent. The small number of postings for Sodexo and Outback Steakhouse means these figures could represent noise rather than a significant shift.
