New postings for software engineers in California saw a significant increase over the past 28 days.
By Hannah Lindqvist, Mogi Research · Oct 18, 2026
New job postings for software engineers in California rose by forty nine percent. There were six hundred sixty eight new postings in the state in the most recent 28 day period, compared to four hundred forty nine in the prior 28 days. Texas saw a surge of fifty one percent in new software engineer postings, while New Jersey postings fell by forty four percent.
This rise in California may be attributed to several factors. It could reflect increased hiring efforts by technology companies within the state. It is also likely that the crawl captured more software engineer roles than in the previous period.
Moving forward, it will be important to monitor continued changes in software engineer job postings across key states. Observing whether California maintains its posting volume and if other states like Texas continue their upward trajectory will provide further insight into the market.

Counts are job postings, not hires, from company career sites that Mogi's crawl found. Compares the 28 days to 2026-10-18 with the 28 days before them. Covers US, all states, Software Engineer. Employers with fewer than five postings in the last eight weeks are grouped together and left out of the rankings. The company details come from the crawl's company profiles, where the crawl has one.
