Washington, D.C. Data Scientist Job Postings Rise 43%

Data scientist job postings in Washington, D.C. rose forty-three percent over the 28 days ending October 19. The number of postings went from fourteen to twenty. This change, while positive, is based on a small number of postings. A difference of just one or two postings could significantly alter the percentage.

Michigan saw a surge in data scientist job postings, increasing by four hundred ninety-one percent. Postings grew from eleven to sixty-five. Maryland also experienced significant growth, with postings up seventy-two percent from eighteen to thirty-one. Illinois saw postings rise seventy-one percent, while California added postings at a rate of forty-four percent.

The increase in Michigan may be due to increased employer demand for data scientists. Alternatively, the crawl may have found more sources in the state, or a few employers may have posted multiple openings. Booz Allen Hamilton posted nine data scientist roles in Washington, D.C. during the period.
