By Felix Hartmann, Mogi Research · Oct 28, 2026
New York added two percent more software engineer job postings in the last 28 days compared to the prior period. This change saw postings rise from two hundred twenty-three to two hundred twenty-seven. This may reflect a modest increase in employer demand for software engineers in the state.
In contrast, California saw a forty percent rise in software engineer job postings, with postings increasing from four hundred seventy-seven to six hundred sixty-six. Texas experienced a plunge, with postings falling by sixty-three percent from six hundred seventy-five to two hundred fifty-one.
The overall volume of new software engineer job postings across the US fell by sixteen percent during the period. This decrease may be attributed to various factors, such as seasonal hiring patterns or a cautious approach by employers in the tech sector.
